Ex-Azkals coach loses coaching job in Indonesia

MANILA, Philippines – Former Azkals coach Simon McMenemy has lost his job as manager of a Liga Super Indonesia team 16 games after taking over the post.

In a report posted on Soccer Central, the Indonesian team, Mitra Kukar, explained that the British coach did not meet the management's expectations, thus “the need to terminate his services.”

Mitra Kukar is currently 4th in Liga Super Indonesia with 27 points.

The team wants at least a runner-up finish this season.

McMenemy was credited for steering the Philippine Azkals to the semi-final round of the AFF Suzuki Challenge Cup in 2010.

  1. What I admired to Coach Simon is his impressive performance last 2010 Suzuki Cup Tournament and i think we had to give him a chance or any an opportunities to be part of our football development program

He is part of our Football success and history

Maybe one of the UFL team possibly give him a chance to Mr. Simon

  2. He hasnt been able to hold a coaching gig for a longer period, and why is that? It is because he isnt a good coach. He sucks. He should coach a 2nd div UFL team, coz he aint better than that.

Back in England he was an assistant coach for a non league club, and now all of a sudden he coaches top league clubs in SEA? He has had his share of fame, and he doesnt deserve more.

  5. Doesn't mean he sucks either. Longetivity might be good, but the lack of it doesn't necessarily mean the lack of coaching knowledge. Take a look at Chelsea, how many 'good' coaches have been there only to be axed by Roman a few months later? What did them in was not their suckiness, but more of Roman's steep expectations. In comparison, Simon wasn't axed by Philippines either, he was axed by the DFB. :P

Therefore I think coaching a club here would be beneficial for Simon because there's not much expectations on clubs just yet, let him oversee some games, and then we decide how shitty he is after a string of results.

And don't underestimate English non-league clubs either. Neither should you consider South East Asian top tier clubs to be too prestigious.

  6. Point is that he still sucks. Yeah, non league clubs can be good, but he was still only assistant manager there. His managing skills according to azkal players were pretty bad. The guy shouldnt be a head coach anywhere. And comparing him to previously Chelsea managers are just pure LOL.

DFB didnt sack him. Are they in charge of PFF? Nope. PFF got a better deal and a better coach.

And i do agree that Simon can coach in the Philippines. Let him coach in a local 7aside festival.

    1. You sound like Louie Encabo. Your basing it on hearsay Louie. The real reason that the locals don't want Macca is because he doesn't have much faith in them. How many subs did he make during the Suzuki Cup? Even Caligdong was seldom used. And rightly so because Caligdong is a dumb hog.

Louie, you clearly don't know nothing about football. Stop acting like a football expert ok?

  7. Hah. Funny. Where in my statement did I compare him to Chelsea managers? I thought I was clear that I was explaining longetivity of management instead of comparing his skills to them. And you can't even see the sarcasm of that DFB statement. :S

Granted I'm willing to hear you out, please cite your sources about azkals claiming his management skills are bad. I'm definitely curious.
