13th Interclub opens today

HIROSHI FC begins its hunt for a third title in the 13th Cebu Interclub Football Cup, which kicks off today in two venues.
The men’s open and 40- above divisions will be at Cebu City Sports Center—considered the home court of Hiroshi—while the rest of the age group categories will be at the Aboitiz Sports Field.
In its first match, Hiroshi FC will take on the dangerous all-Nigerian squad of University of Cebu, while Samba FC will face Mactan Camellanz United in the opening match.
Also in the first day, Erco FC will face Cebu-Korea FC, Cebu Queen City United FC will take on Danao FC and Cebu Amateur Football Club will face Don Bosco United FC.
An interesting match-up awaits in the 40 and above category featuring sister teams Kevlar Queen City United- A and Kevlar Queen City United-B.
Clash in the ladies open, 11-under, 13-under, 15-under and 18-under will be at the Aboitiz Field.
In the ladies open, the University of San Carlos will face the Samba Girls, while
Sacred Heart School- Ateneo de Cebu will take on CTU-FC in the second match.
Meanwhile, Meanwhile, the Cebu Football Association stamped its first win in the Philippine Football Federation- Suzuki U-23 National Finals yesterday at Dumaguete City. Skipper Rikko de Guzman’s header got the CFA past a tough North Cotabato team, 1-0, for a perfect start in Group A.
Head coach Joselito Bono said the players had trouble adjusting to the play and it was only in the final 10 minutes of the first half that they were able to gather themselves.
“At first wala pa gyud but they were able to adjust in the later minutes ,” said Bono.
Cebu is in Group A with North Cotabato, Iligan, Baguio and Iloilo Football Associations.
The top teams per bracket will move on to advance in the crossover semifinals.
