Depleted PSG secures place in UFL top flight

By Karlo Sacamos

A DEPLETED PSG side all but secured its place in the United Football League top flight next season after settling for a 1-1 draw with Kaya on Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
PSG squandered an early lead, but gallantly held on with the result despite playing without seven players, who were either injured or suspended.
The seventh-ranked squad now raised its point total to 15, 11 points ahead of cellar-dwelling Army.
Kaya, which has the most stalemates this season with seven, remained in fourth place with 25 points.
"We didn’t have bench, just eleven players, who played world class,” PSG skipper Hamed Hajimehdi said. “We had two chances, but unfortunately we settled for a draw.”
Reza Amirkhizan struck the opening goal for PSG five minutes before first-half stoppage time. Masa Omura then scored the equalizer in the 70th minute.
PSG failed to exploit the absence of Kaya’s teenage sensation OJ Porteria, who was shown a red card in stoppage time.
