  1. Coming from top level football Dooley may have been shocked by the low level qualifications of coaches assigned to the Azkals. He may think better ones are available. He's in for another shock. Coaches, like players, need time to mature.

  2. You really have no clue about local football with that statement and I doubt you even Coach. Also, they did not resign, they, like many others in the past few years, were unceremoniously dropped. Other than that, people forget, these three were the ones that held the team together, even in the dark times where nobody cared about Football, creating the spine that started the miracle run to begin with. I feel sad about all those people that do not know the full story of the trials and rise of the Azkals.

    1. Of course we have many to thank them for. But on the other hand, if we are to get to another level then we must do whatever is necessary may it be the coach or the staff in general. Sometimes an organization in general grows by changing the scenery if you will or the culture. Same idea as if you keep doing what you are doing then you wont learn something new. But I hope these changes are for the better for sure though.

  3. I'm sure there are valid reason why these coaches had to go. Maybe that "spine" has gotten way too old. Maybe a bad match with Dooley. Maybe they got too comfortable. Maybe....

    Who knows?

One thing is true in coaching though. You gotta have the right support -- management and coaching staff -- to win games. If Dooley needs a coaching staff that can execute what he wants, he'll get the right stuff, staff.

For Filipinos, the touch-touchy ones, most of us anyway, very hard to accept. But it's NEVER personal. It's the business of coaching.

  4. pinoys are sentimental fools. it is this annoying sentimentality that sometimes gets in the way of growth and development in this country. it is important for everyone in the azkals management to be in the same page and if this is not possible with the old set up then why insist? welcome change with positive expectations. i'm sure this is purely business and nothing personal.

  5. coaching is a thankless job. nobody should expect to be treated like they're indispensable. because the truth is, anybody can go anytime...even the head coach. just be grateful for the opportunity to serve and when you've served your purpose and it's time for you to move on, just move on.

  6. True no one is indispensable but conduct the termination in such a way that the dignities of these coaches’ are preserved. From what we have gathered the issue is not on being replaced but the manner of their dismissal. No notice or formal communication regarding their dismissal, and no one cared to even thank them for the service rendered.

    1. wasn't that the same treatment they gave mcmenemy when they sacked him? precisely why it's a "thankless" job. the only thing that can hurt is your pride. if you did something for the country out of your sincere desire to help, in this case to help in the growth of the sport in the phils., you shouldn't be expecting anything in return in the first place. you don't count your contributions and wait to be appreciated because true service is selfless. unless of course the intent wasn't to serve but something else. like i said, just be grateful for the opportunity to be part of the journey and since it's time to move on, just move on.

  7. Here we go again. Another negative stuff surfacing during a crucial time this time the Challenge Cup prep. Ok. People should be professional about these kind of things as these can drag and give negative vibes within our MNT during this crucial time. If they are to let go of a staff then do so in a professional manner. If you are a staff being let go then like wise be a professional about it. I hope this is not another inhouse politics at work again. Damn it! This is a turn off if it turns out to be another in house politics motivated.

  8. I don't know Dooley personally. But from what I've seen so far, he seems to be a classy individual. Having been through so many levels of football-both as player and coach, he would not insult these former coaches. On the other hand, being let go stings and I don't think there was ever a way to let these guys go without them becoming upset. Change is just a part of life.

  9. just to make it clear, pinero was not an assistant. his title was "trainer", not assistant coach.

also based on some training pics during dooley's time so far, i would guess that manson would be the assistant coach.

    1. His title in the "official" Azkals website is "assistant coach"

  13. Cabalida was already an assistant coach as early as 2000 for the Tiger Cup when Alicante was at the helm. Yet he still doesn't have an 'A' license until now?!? LOL!!!
