Marquee matchup between Azkals-loaded Global, Kaya postponed as UFL gives way to national team camp

The United Football League is once again stepping aside to allow the Philippine men’s football team to continue its preparation for the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup next month in Maldives.
The country’s growing semi-professional football league has made some changes in its schedule from April 5 to 15 to give way to the Azkals, who are embarking on an international training camp in Qatar starting next week.
One marquee matchup that is set to be postponed is between title contenders Global FC and Kaya FC originally on April 12.
Half of the 22 players called up in the one week camp, which will include friendlies against Nepal’s national team on April 11 and Qatari club Al-Ahli three days later, are members of Global and Kaya.
The third-round Global-Kaya matchup, which is expected to greatly affect the title race, will be announced in a later date.
The UFL announced it will also observe the Holy Week break, giving Division 1 and 2 squads layoffs from April 16 to 20.
