Socceroo salvages draw with 10-man Pasargad to stay out of UFL drop zone

By Karlo Sacamos
SOCCEROO salvaged a 1-1 draw against a Pasargad side that went a man down late in their United Football League match on Tuesday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
The 2013 Division 2 champion erased an early deficit, but failed to take advantage after the ejection of Pasargad's goalkeeper with still over 10 minutes remaining in the game between relegation-threatened teams.
Socceroo nonetheless kept its hold of eighth spot and its five-point cushion over cellar-dwelling Pasargad as it stayed above the drop zone.
Pasargad, which at least gained a point for the first time in eight matches, looked poised for its first victory in two monthswhen transfer window acquisition Jerome Cuyos gave the men in green the lead with a strike 18 minutes into the game.
But Lee Jeong Woo equalized for Socceroo 15 minutes after the restart, converting a penalty attempt that was awarded after Pasargad ‘keeper Arnie Nsangou picked up a yellow card for fouling a Socceroo defender inside the box.
Nsangou compounded Pasargad’s woes in the 80th minute when he incurred a straight red card that left the club with only 10 men.
Despite having more room to operate, Socceroo couldn’t capitalize and even lost an own man two minutes into stoppage time when Park Yi Young was sent off with a straight red.

  1. Another ridiculous officiating by NCRFA referee's was seen last night when a foul was called inside the box but instead of a penalty an indirect free kick was given - hahahaha.. only in the UFL
