U14 Boys National Team all set for the AFC U14 Regional Festival of Football 2016

The U14 Boys National Team departs on Sunday (24 July 2016) for Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam to compete in the AFC U14 Regional Festival of Football 2016. The competition kicks off on 26 July 2016 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The Philippines will be competing alongside Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam. The competition format will be discussed during the Team Coordinator’s Meeting on 25 July 2016.

The squad is a product of a comprehensive nationwide tryouts and inspection conducted last April 2016.

The tryouts dates and venues were the following:

1.) FIFA Training Center, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo in Visayas last 09-10 April 2016.

2.) PFF Regional Training Center, Valencia, Bukidnon in Mindanao last 19-20 April 2016.

3.) De La Salle Zobel Field, NCR in Luzon last 16-17 April 2016.

The coaching staff is headed by Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong, and assisted by Nestorio Margarse and Garry Garciano.

  1. caligdong is still a rookie coach. don't why the pff has put him as a head coach for a national team even if it's "only" the u14's. the guy is frickin overrated its untrue! even the pff buys into the hype that they've made him a national team coach.

    1. i agree. he looks more of a youth mentor or sport ambassador. he should handle a youth club first.
